How verification works
Publicly the credit reads "Verified by BuySellBelize". Here is what that means.
What a business must provide
- One commercial reference. Another business that has dealt with them: a client, a supplier, a landlord, a bank. Not a relative, not a business the applicant owns.
- Two personal references. People who have known the owner for 2 years or more, not relatives.
- Connected social accounts. Google Business Profile required, plus at least one of a Facebook page or an Instagram account. The owner connects by signing in. We never take passwords.
- At least four original photos. Storefront or vehicle with signage, the owner or team at work, and two examples of work or products.
- Trade licence or registration number for the types of business that need one in a city or town. Only staff see it.
What the BuySellBelize team does
- Phones all three references and logs each call. Two attempts, then asks the owner to swap the reference.
- Confirms the Google listing name and address match, and that Google has verified the listing.
- Reviews the photos: signage against the Google listing photo, consistency across photos, camera data in the file, and an AI-detector hint. A person decides, never the detector alone.
- Checks for duplicates: the same phone, address or Google listing already applied or rejected.
- Approves, requests changes, or rejects with a written reason. Nothing goes live until a person approves it.
- Re-checks every listing after 12 months.
The photo rule
Every photo must be a real photograph of that business, taken by the business or someone it hired. No AI images, stock photos, logos as photos, or screenshots. One AI image is a rejection; the business may apply again after 30 days.
When a listing is removed
When a photo turns out to be AI, stock or someone else's; when a reference is false; when the Google Business Profile has been disconnected for 30 days or more; or when a report is upheld by a person.
Reviews
Google reviews are shown as Google publishes them. Site reviews need a signed-in account, one per person per business, and are moderated before they appear.
